Empowering Seniors to Stay Active, Healthy, and Connected Through Exciting Pickleball Sports and Wellness!
It's not just about the Exercise
With my tennis background in hand, I began my Pickleball journey last year, when they built 3 courts about 1/2 a mile from my home in Miller Place, New York.
The first time I played, I truly hated it. It was a plastic ball that didn't bounce anywhere near the same as a tennis ball bounce. I found myself lunging for balls that never seemed to come up for me, and I remember musing, "how is the game fun?".
Fast forward into my second year of playing, I am now truly obsessed with the game, its nuances, and the ability to get a great workout by playing.
But most important, it's the community of friends that I have built at these courts which is the big ticket sale. Since my kids have all graduated college and moved out of the house, there are community members that I used to see on the high school athletic fields regularly, that I've reunited with on the pickleball courts. There are some people that I play with that I literally hadn't seen in 20 years. Moreover, I have established a new cadre of friends, most of whom are retired like me, that share the same bond for the game, its exercise benefits, and the love of the pickleball community that we are part of.
